December 1 is #ripMultiply day!

Who is excited of December 1? Well, for me and my fellow Multiplyers Multiply enthusiasts, tomorrow is but a sad day in the history of social networking.

Long before I was into Facebook and Twitter, I’ve been enjoying the privilege [of web hosting  photos and videos,  including playlists] Multiply is offering me.

For the five to six years, my Multiply experience has helped me document significant chapters in my life. From the very personal and insignificant ones [which I decided to make it private] to the very meaningful parts of my past, it’s just heartwarming to realize how Multiply has become my virtual photo album.

I was notified more than a month ago of this sad news so I’ve decided to manually save/download a few photos…

I’ve learned that  I’ve created an online archive of more than 8,000 photos and downloading them manually was not the most practical idea. So,  I’ve tried Google Chrome’s Download Master and Firefox’s DownThemAll, as suggested in the notification by no less than the CEO of Multiply, Mr. Stefan Magdalinski, himself.

Unfortunately, for a month now, both suggestions were practically unproductive; such a waste of internet time…

Manual download is neither a sound alternative, as I thought.

One thing is for sure, Stefan is correct in noting that he and his team has made “an unpopular” decision for killing Multiply’s social networking features beginning tomorrow, December 1, 2012.

Of course, the hash-tag #ripMultiply isn’t fair  because Multiply isn’t bidding farewell to the internet. In fact, it further vows to boost its claim as “Asia’s most loved online marketplace”.

As for me, I hate the move to slash the site’s social networking features. I really do… But if it has to go, ‘di adios!!!!

One thing is for sure, tomorrow is a not-so-merry day to start the Yuletide month!

PS

I envy these tweeps for obvious reasons…
